My favorite health tip is a lesson from the centenarian (older than 100) communities of the Blue Zones (geographical regions where people live high quality long lives).

Which is to simply engage in natural movement every day for optimal health and longevity.

Which form of natural movement is the best for healthy longevity?

The answer to that question depends upon:

That which you may enjoy or find meaningful.

  1. That in which you may easily engage as part of your daily schedule wherever you find yourself and in a manner that does not overly stress or cause excessive impact to your joints.

  2. That in which may continue to partake throughout the entire journey of your life.

Examples of these forms of natural movement include the mindful art and practice of walking, hiking, bicycling, swimming, dancing, qigong or taiji, and yoga in their many styles.

Regardless of our level of strength, flexibility, or mobility, there are forms of natural movement in which most of us can engage. This may including practices that are done in a seated or a recumbent position if needed.

As always, we strongly advise that you speak with a licensed healthcare provider before you commence new forms of physical activity, exercise, or movement; and I would be pleased to discuss this with you.
