Yoga for Healing Trauma

YOGA FOR HEALING TRAUMA
and reducing stress.

Our bodies, sometimes more than our minds, hold the memory of trauma. This may be in the form of a tightly contracted psoas, constricted diaphragm, habitual tension in the shoulders, neck or jaw. These tightenings have occurred as a response to a perceived threat, part of our fight or flight response, but once the threat has passed, our bodies very often still do not feel safe enough to release fully into relaxation. As a result, we experience symptoms of trauma such as back pain, digestive problems, anxiety and even PTSD.

This workshop will combine yoga postures (asana) and breathing exercises (pranayama) with the body’s natural, therapeutic shaking response called Self Induced Therapeutic Tremors (SITT). This is a simple, gentle and profound practice that facilities the lengthening and relaxation of the psoas muscle and the release of physical and emotional stress and tension. During  practice, we safely self-induce therapeutic vibration using yoga postures and breath.

When we are in a safe environment,  we are able to recognize the impact of trauma on our bodies and experiment with how poses may trigger or release habitual patterns of responding. With mindfulness we can learn to stay with the body and the breath, being a conscious witness to the trauma that is stored within us. Yoga can bring about a deep sense of healing in mind, body and spirit.

We are thrilled to bring monthly offerings to our community lead by the talented Trisha Fratello! An evening to create, chat and take home your own masterpiece. We provide the place, the time, the wine and material. 
 

This month we invite you to awaken your Creativity and Nurture your Soul by crafting your very own STRING ART PIECE! Choose from a gallery of designs (see event wall) to add that inspirational piece of décor to your home. Specialty designed stencils and/or larger signs are also available upon request. 

 

We provide all of the materials and tools! There will be a variety of different stained wood options, and string colors at the event. All you need is to bring is YOURSELF and/or friends (or come meet some new ones!!!) 

No experience necessary. 
One complimentary glass of wine / sparkling cider and hor dourves will be served.

Space is limited to 20 individuals!! Please reserve your spot on by Wednesday, July 25th.

This offering is lead by Lily Jaser, who is a Certified Usui Reiki Practitioner. She received master level training in 2012 and has offered private and group level reiki sessions as well as instruction. Lily will take you on a journey through gentle and restorative yoga postures while you receive group and individual reiki, supporting your Nervous System and enhancing your overall wellbeing.
