I think many of us have just "HAD IT." That's what my mom used to say...

"I've HAD IT!"

I knew that meant what ever was going on.... was going to stop right now....

.....OR ELSE the wrath of an Italian mother was next.

Italian mothers love their families HARD. They won't take shit and you don't want to test it.

Can you love yourself HARD like an Italian mother?... can you tell yourself ... "I've HAD IT!”? (…and maybe a little “knock it off!”)

I know I have...”HAD IT!” …2 years of pandemic, world unrest, toxic environment, information overload, social media, screen time galore, our food system, our health care system and so much more. Man oh man!

Many of our patients are expressing exhaustion from it all. And even when the stress seems to lift a little… the fog and feeling of overwhelm is still there.

This article would just suck if all I did was commiserate with you on how much we have all “HAD IT.”

Italian Mamas will also finish with a sharp… “Knock it off!”

So I am here with solutions...so we can all knock it off a bit :)

When you've "HAD IT!"

1. Make less decisions. That’s right! Decision fatigue plays a huge role in your stress levels and your ability to make good self care choices. This includes health decisions. When stress hits we need our health more than ever, but sometimes we just can’t bring ourselves to motivate or decide what to do. Here are some simple ways to make less little decisions….Prep meals in advance, put your work out clothes out the night before, decide your most important tasks for the day before bed, batch and answer emails in one sitting, ask for help or create routines that anchor you….. Try our FREE resource…. START YOUR DAY AT NIGHT.

2. Turn off the news. News fasting is the quickest way I know to drop anxiety. In fact, I have seen news fasts halt panic attacks. Try to take a break for 7 days. If this feels like too much get your news from the news paper.

3. Emotional Freedom Technique (otherwise known as “tapping”). If you are a patient of ours... You're either cheering exuberantly or rolling your eyes because you’ve heard it a million times LOL! I can not recommend it enough to reset your nervous system and drop cortisol in half. Check out how to learn tapping in 21 minutes HERE.

4. GO OUTSIDE! I do not believe there is anything better for you than a long walk in nature. Period. Better yet... take your shoes off and ground your feet to the earth. The negative ions the earth creates through her magnetic field get sucked up into your feet and create a neutralizing effect :)

5. Social Media fasting. We love to connect with you on the IG and we love to teach you there too. But we also know that asking you to go there is like a trap! Once you go to do one thing... you might lose yourself for hours in other people's agendas. Things like body positivity make way for how scary it is to be overweight during covid… make way for intuitive eating that makes way for 3 foods that burn fat. I mean WTF!? We very much encourage you to take the week off if you can. (especially if you have “HAD IT!”)

6. Blood sugar stability. Many people believe this mean ..don't eat sugar. But that is not what blood sugar stabilizing means. It simply means to eat on time something with protein, fat and fiber every 4ish hours. If you are in overwhelm or anxious ... DO NOT FAST. Keeping blood sugar stable actually keeps stress hormones at bay.

7. Get body work. We love acupuncture and Dr. Intal is beyond excited to help you and specializes in stress reduction. Other ways to help with the "I HAD IT" is ... massage, chiropractic care, cranial sacral, yoga and reiki to name a few!

8. Watch a comedy. Or better yet! Hang out with a funny friend. There is not enough room on this page to go into the benefits of laughter. But I think we all know that laughing quickly knocks off a case of the "I’VE HAD ITS."

9. Take nervine herbs. Chamomile, skullcap, valerian, cal poppy, milky oats, passion flower and Kava are all nervine herbs. Nervine herbs soothe our fired up nervous system. It’s amazing what a cup of tea can do.

I realize this list is a bit exhaustive. Having a list of things to do for your health can cause more stress… we know! So we are going to keep it simple…
