are you tired this winter?

I know I have been. And guess what... it's normal!

The earth is cold. The days are short. Our bodies seek comfort, rest and warmth.

Even though our natural instincts tell us it's time to rest... this can be the busiest time of year.

Leaving us to feeling extra tired and worn out.

There is no sickness in needing rest.

Nature designed for us a perfect time to light fires, cozy up and conserve energy.

This time of year.. I often recommend acupuncture so you can just lay there, show up and be healed!

Its a great time to deeply listen to what your body needs instead pushing your routine.

The sun will return again and there will be lots of time to say "yes!" To grow and expend energy.

Here are a few of my favorite ways to help with energy and promote rest during this time of year...

  1. Add some adaptogenic mushrooms to your coffee. Sound preposterous? Like a cardinal sin? It might be, but your will feel a calm sense of energy instead of the urgent Pete's buzz. These are the ones we like.
  1. Say NO! When in doubt say it LOUD.. .NOPE. NAH. My parents used to say... "What don't you under stand?... the "N" or the "O?" Only if you feel excited, happy or energized by something ... say YES!

  2. Lay down and get some body work done. Especially acupuncture which lets your nervous system recalibrate and gives you some resilience.

  1. Keep exercising. AND its ok to slow your roll. On days you feel lower or tired. Opt for the walk.

  2. Walk after meals to keep your blood sugar from swinging around, help with digestion and keep you invigorated with out having to strain yourself. 10 minutes after each meal was shown in research to be better than a 30 min straight bout of exercise.

FUNCTIONAL PEARL: Stress is more than in your surroundings. Your body can be reacting to internal stressors like nutrient deficiencies, gut infections, toxins and more. If you feel like your stress levels sky rocket at the drop of a hat... you might need to see why your nervous system is on fire. If that is the case... you should call us for a free 15 minute consult to see if we can help you :)
